Preparing for Class
Yoga practice may be challenging, but it is not a competition. One must practice self awareness and compassion. If you have any medical conditions that might affect your practice, please consult your physican and obtain their approval before attending class.
Arrive 10 minutes before class.
Turn your cell phones to silent.
Remove your shoes before entering the practice area.
Check in with the teacher and let them know of any conditions that might affect your practice.
Practice on an empty stomach.
Do not wear heavy fragrances or lotions.
Check your ego at the door.
I'm new. Where do I start?
Start with Yoga U which is designed to introduce the new student to the basic fundamentals of a healthy yoga practice: breath, postures, alignments, terminology, purpose, sun salutations, and more. See Yoga U for details.
Do I need a mat or props?
Mats, blocks, straps, blankets, and bolsters are provided, however, many people prefer to bring their own mats as practice is done with bare feet.
What do I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes you can easily move in, sweat in, and remained covered in while bending over, twisting, and stretching.
What if I'm late or have to leave early?
Arriving late or leaving early can disrupt students and teachers, however, we know life happens. If for some reason know you are going to be late or must leave early, please let the instructor know before class as the studio door is locked once class begins.
Do I have to sign up online?
It helps us plan and be prepared, but it is not required.
